Albania has some surprising advantages over investing in Croatia, for example. Title of ownership is guaranteed by the public notary; there is an existing urban plan and building permits take three months not three years; the government is actively courting foreign investment and offers a five-year tax holiday; there is no capital gains tax on private purchase; and refreshingly, so refreshingly, bank finance of up to 70% is available from the numerous foreign banks established here. British Airways already flies direct three times a week. Albania has some way to go with its infrastructure, but a friendly investment environment and those stunning virgin sandy beaches mean the time to invest is now.
